If performance diminishes, recharge the battery
pack.
Instructions on charging the battery pack can be
found in the operating instructions of the Metabo
charger.
Li-Ion battery packs "Li-Power" have a capacity and
signal indicator (14):
- Press the button (15), the LEDs indicate the
charge level.
- If one LED is flashing, the battery pack is almost
flat and must be recharged.
Removing and inserting the battery pack
Removal: Press the battery pack release button
(11) and pull the battery pack (13) forwards.
To insert: Slide the battery pack (13) in until it
engages.
Installation of belt hook
Attach the belt hook (12) as shown.
7. Use
7.1
Setting the direction of rotation,
engaging the transporting safety device
(switch-on lock)
Only activate the rotation selector switch (4)
when the motor has completely stopped.
See page 2:
R = Clockwise setting
L = Counter-clockwise setting
0 = Central position: transportation lock setting
(switch-on lock)
7.2
Select the gear (depending on features)
Select the required gear by rotating the thumb
wheel (3).
Change speed only when the machine is in the
process of running down
(briefly switch On and Off).
1. st gear (low speed, high torque) e.g. for
screwdriving, drilling
2. nd gear (high speed) e.g. for drilling
7.3
Presetting the speed (depending on
features)
Select the maximum speed using the preselection
wheel (5). For recommended rotational speeds for
drilling, see figure E, page 3.
7.4
On/Off switch, modifying the speed
Switching on, speed: press the trigger switch (6).
Press in the trigger to increase the rotational
speed.
To switch off release the trigger switch.
Continuous activation: With the trigger (6)
pressed, push in the locking button (7) and
release the trigger. Press and release the trigger
(6) again to switch off.
In continuous operation, the machine
continues running if it is forced out of your
12
hands. Therefore, always hold the machine with
both hands using the handles provided, stand
securely and concentrate.
7.5
Tool Change with Futuro Top Keyless
Chuck (1)
See illustration A on page 2.
Opening the drill chuck: Hold the retaining ring
and turn the sleeve with your other hand in
direction of the arrow -1-.
Clamping the tool: Insert the tool -2- as far as
possible. Hold the retaining ring and turn the sleeve
as far as it will go with your other hand in direction of
the arrow -3-.
7.6
Tool Change with Futuro Plus Keyless
Chuck (9)
See illustration B on page 3.
Opening the drill chuck:
Turn the sleeve in the direction of the arrow -1-.
The grating sound which may be heard after
opening the drill chuck is functional and is stopped
by turning the sleeve in the opposite direction.
If the chuck is extremely tight: Remove battery pack
/ pull mains plug. Hold the chuck using an open-end
spanner at the flats on its head, and turn the sleeve
vigorously in the direction of the arrow -1.
Clamping the tool:
- Insert the tool -2- as far as possible.
- Turn sleeve in direction -3- until the noticeable
mechanical resistance has been overcome.
- Caution! The tool is not yet clamped! Keep
turning the sleeve (it must "click" when
turning), until it cannot be turned any further -
only now is the tool securely clamped.
With a soft tool shank, retightening may be required
after a short drilling period.
7.7
Unscrewing the chuck
(To screw without a chuck or when using
attachments)
Note: If a bit clamping bush (order no. 6.31281) is
attached, the screwdriver bit inserted in the
hexagon socket of the spindle is held in place.
Futuro Top Keyless Chuck (1)
See page 3, figure C.
Hold the drill spindle tight with the supplied open-
ended spanner. Clamp an Allen key in the chuck
and strike lightly with a rubber hammer to loosen,
then unscrew.
Tighten just as firmly.
The chuck must be screwed firmly to the
spindle. If rotated counter-clockwise (e.g.
when screwing) it could otherwise become loose.
Futuro Plus Keyless Chuck (9)
See illustration D on page 4.
Undo the locking screw. Caution left-handed
thread!
