resistant work clothes when work-
ing with the saw chain. Before carry-
ing out any work on the device, dis-
connect the spark plug connector
(32) and activate the chain brake.
 CAUTION! Dust may be gener-
ated when sawing dry wood. Wear a
suitable dust mask.
Carry out the following steps before
operating the chainsaw:
• If necessary Installing the saw
chain and blade bar, p. 53
• Tensioning the saw chain, p. 53
• Pouring in chain oil, p. 44
• Checking the chain brake, p. 43
• Checking the oil automation
• check that the protective devices
are in perfect condition and com-

tions are tight,
• check the tightness of the fuel sys-

• make sure that the chainsaw is not
touching anything.
NOTICE! The chainsaw can be re-
oiled, see Cleaning, maintenance and
storage, p. 49.
Checking the chain brake
WARNING! Risk of injury from the
trailing saw chain. Do not use the
chainsaw if the chain brake does not
work properly. Contact the Service
Centre, p. 60.
Check the chain brake before
switching the device on (Fig. B)
1. Make sure that the chain brake
lever (12) and the mechanics are
clean.
2. Check whether the chain brake
lever (12) clicks into place in the
end positions.
No: Do not work with the chain-
saw! contact the service centre.
Check the chain brake when
switching the device on (Fig. B)
These steps are part of the switch-on
process.
Maintain the chain lubrication
Before starting work, check the oil
level and the function of the chain
lubrication.
NOTICE! If the chainsaw is used with
too little oil, the cutting performance
and lifespan of the saw chain will de-
crease as the saw chain will become
blunt more quickly. You can recognise
insufficient oil by the smoke develop-
ment or discolouration of the blade
bar. Make sure that there is always
oil flowing onto the chain.
