8. Maintenance and cleaning
The mandatory first service and good and regular maintenance are very important to increase the
lifespan of the e-bike.
8.1. First service
To protect your warranty, the first service at a Dutch ID dealer is mandatory. This must be carried
out after 3 months or 500 km, depending on which of the two comes first. It is important to store
the service documents in a safe place for future warranty claims.
8.2. Maintaining your bike yourself
Various materials and parts can respond to wear in different ways depending on the load
imposed on them. If the planned lifespan of a part is exceeded, it can suddenly fail. This may
result in injury to the cyclist. Any type of crack, groove or discolouration in heavily loaded areas,
such as the frame, front fork, handlebars or brakes, indicates that the part has reached the end of
its lifespan and that it must be replaced.
8.2.1.
Cleaning the e-bike
Regularly cleaning the e-bike will extend the lifespan of the e-bike.
CAUTION
6
• All parts, including the power unit, must not be immersed in water or cleaned with high
pressure.
• Do not use aggressive detergents that may damage the parts of the e-bike.
• Turn off the power unit and the battery before cleaning. The battery should preferably be
removed from the e-bike.
Use lukewarm water with a mild detergent and a soft sponge to clean the e-bike. Do not use a
scouring sponge, steel wool or other abrasive cleaning products.
Carefully clean the battery and power system with a soft, damp cloth.
Regularly clean the reflectors on the e-bike to ensure you remain visible in traffic.
To stop rust forming on parts, we recommend coating all chrome plated and unpainted
aluminium/stainless steel parts with acid free petroleum jelly after cleaning.
NOTICE
The toothed belt is maintenance free and must not be lubricated.
