3.2. Electric drive unit
WARNING
6
• Do not carry out measures that affect the power or maximum speed of the power unit. This
may endanger yourself and others and mean you are guilty of illegal practices in the public
domain.
• Do not make modifications to your e-bike and do not install products that increase the
power of your e-bike system. This reduces the lifespan of the system and risks damage to
the power unit and the e-bike. It may also invalidate your warranty coverage. Incorrect use
of the system is also hazardous to your safety and that of other road users and may lead
to accidents resulting from manipulation, high personal liability costs and even the risk of
criminal prosecution.
CAUTION
6
• Do not open the power unit yourself. The power unit may only be opened by qualified
persons and may only be repaired using original replacement parts. This avoids adversely
affecting the safety of the power unit. Unauthorised opening of the power unit invalidates the
warranty.
• All parts mounted to the power unit and all other parts of the e-bike power unit must only
be replaced with parts that are identical in construction or parts that have been specifically
approved for your e-bike by the bike manufacturer. This protects the power unit against
overloading and damage.
• The walk assist feature must only be used while walking with the e-bike.
• There is a risk of injury if the wheels of the e-bike are not in contact with the ground while the
walk assist feature is used.
• The pedals also turn when the walk assist feature is activated. When using the walk assist
feature, ensure that your legs remain far enough from the turning pedals.
• Under extreme conditions, such as continued high loading at low speeds while riding uphill or
while carrying heavy loads, parts of the transmission may reach temperatures of >60 °C.
• After cycling, do not touch the power unit casing without protection. Under extreme
conditions, such as continued high torques at low riding speeds or while riding uphill or while
carrying heavy loads, the casing may reach very high temperatures. The temperature that the
casing of the power unit reaches is influenced by the following factors:
- ambient temperature
- riding profile (route/incline)
- ride duration
- assist modes
- user behaviour (own effort)
- total weight (cyclist, e-bike, baggage)
- motor cover of the power unit
- power unit type and gearing type
