3.4. Battery
The contents of Lithium Ion battery cells are flammable under certain conditions. You must
therefore familiarise yourself with the instructions in this manual.
WARNING
6
• Protect the battery against heat (e.g. continued exposure to sunlight), fire and immersion in
water. Do not store or use the battery in the vicinity of hot or flammable objects. This leads to
the risk of explosion.
• Do not place the charger or battery in the vicinity of flammable materials. Only charge the
battery while dry and in a place where there is no risk of fire. The heat produced during
charging leads to the risk of fire.
• Keep the battery away from paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects
that may short circuit the contacts. Short circuits between the battery contacts may lead to
burns or fire. Damage arising from short circuits in this way invalidates all warranty claims.
• If your battery is defective (leaks, smoke, overheated, damaged through falling), you must
immediately return the battery to your dealer or take it to the waste collection facility. A
defective battery can cause fire in the battery.
• Do not charge or use a damaged battery.
• Keep the charger away from children.
CAUTION
6
• Remove the battery from the e-bike before carrying out work (e.g. inspection, repair,
adjustment or maintenance) on the e-bike, or transporting it by car or aircraft or storing it.
Accidental activation of the e-bike system may result in injury.
• Do not open the battery. This leads to the risk of short circuits. Opening the battery
invalidates all warranty claims.
• Damage to or incorrect use of the battery may cause vapours to be released. Ventilate the
area and consult a doctor if symptoms arise. The vapours may irritate the airways.
• Avoid mechanical loads and exposure to high temperatures. These may damage the battery
cells and lead to the release of flammable substances.
• Incorrect use may cause fluid to leak from the battery. Avoid touching this. Rinse off with
water if contact occurs. A doctor must also be consulted if the fluid comes into contact with
the eyes. Leaking battery fluid may cause skin irritations or burns.
• Batteries must not be subjected to mechanical shocks. This may cause damage to the battery.
• Only charge the battery with original Bosch chargers. If non-original Bosch chargers are used,
the risk of fire cannot be discounted.
• Only use the battery in combination with e-bikes with an original Bosch e-bike power system.
This is the only way to protect the battery against hazardous overloading.
• Use only original Bosch batteries that have been approved for your e-bike by the
manufacturer. The use of other batteries may lead to injury and the risk of fire.
• Do not use the battery as a handgrip. If you lift the e-bike with the battery, you may damage
the battery.
