9. Storage
9.1. Storing the battery during long periods of inactivity
If you will not be using the e-bike for longer than three months, store the battery with a charge
level of around 30% to 60% (two to three battery level LEDs).
Check the battery level after six months. If only one LED illuminates, charge the battery to
around 30% to 60%.
CAUTION
6
• If you store the battery empty for a long period of time, it may be damaged despite the low
self-discharge rate. This can greatly diminish the battery capacity.
• We recommend not leaving the battery attached to the charger for long periods of time.
9.1.1.
Storage conditions
The battery should preferably be stored in a dry, well ventilated place. Protect the battery against
damp and water. In poor weather conditions, we recommend removing the battery from the
e-bike and storing it in an enclosed space.
Store the battery:
• in a space with smoke detectors.
• away from combustible or highly flammable materials.
• away from sources of heat.
• away from bright sunlight.
• at temperatures between 10 °C and 20 °C.
Ensure that the maximum temperature is not exceeded. For example, the battery should not
4
be left in the car in the summer.
10. Transport
If you transport the e-bike outside your car, for example on a trailer, remove the on-board
computer and battery to prevent damage.
If transported by professional users or third parties (e.g. air transport or a shipping company),
you must take account of specific requirements related to packaging and indications (e.g. ADR
regulations). If necessary, you can consult an expert in hazardous substances about preparing the
package for sending.
You can transport undamaged batteries by road without further restrictions.
Only send the battery if the casing is undamaged and the battery operates correctly. Use the
original Bosch packaging for transport. Tape off open contacts and pack the battery so it cannot
move in transit. Inform the package service that the package contains a hazardous product.
Observe any applicable national regulations.
For all questions about transporting batteries, contact a qualified e-bike specialist. They can also
provide you with suitable transport packaging.
