3) Take the new chain and insert the drive links into the groove around the bar starting from the tip. The arrows
on the joining links must point towards the tip from the top of the bar. Be sure to observe the correct cutting
direction of the chain.
4) Place the bar and chain on the tool making sure that:
•
the chain drive links are engaged on the teeth of the drive sprocket (A);
•
the groove on the bar is inserted in the guide (C) of the body on the tool;
•
the chain tensioning pin (16) is inserted in the lower hole on the bar. If the chain tensioner pin (16) is not
aligned with the hole, turn the adjusting screw (4) to move the chain tensioner pin until it is centred.

Ensure that the chain links are all stretched out and have no kinks, then refit the guard (5) and screw the nut
(3) loosely. Before tightening the nut, the chain must be correctly tensioned. See paragraph 5.2.1.
CAUTION
Chain tension must be checked every time work is started, after the first cuts and periodically during use.

When the chain is new, it requires a running-in period during which its tension must be checked more
frequently. During the first cuts the chain will slacken frequently, but this is normal during the running-in period.

The first cuts must be light, avoiding heavy pressure and making sure that there is plenty of oil. Make sure that
the chain, bar and pinion warm up completely and check the tension of the chain and adjust it if necessary.
